Receive emailed accounts: City customers urged to submit account number, cell phone number and email address

01 September 2025

From 31 December 2025, the City will only send emailed accounts and it will no longer send bills via the postal service. To keep services going, customers are urged to urgently send their account number, contact number and email address to the email and SMS channels provided. Customers who have their email addresses and phone numbers on the system, but aren’t signed up for emailed accounts, are being contacted via an SMS as well. Customers without email addresses are advised to contact the City’s Call Centre on 0860 103 089.

‘Join more than 475 000 fellow Capetonians who have already made the switch to emailed accounts. We’re asking our customers to urgently register for emailed accounts as we will no longer be sending accounts via the postal service after 31 December 2025. These deadlines have a way of suddenly sneaking up on us, so we urge customers to do this sooner rather than later. All that is required is to send an email or SMS with the account number, contact number and email address. It’s quick and easy, and residents can enjoy the convenience of their account being sent directly to their inbox.

‘Those without email addresses will be assisted and they are encouraged to phone the City’s Call Centre on 0860 103 089,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Finance, Councillor Siseko Mbandezi.

How to make the switch:
